Definitions
“Nation” means a regional government.
“Representative” means the chairperson of a regional government.
Part 1 – Purposes of this act
- To provide a legal framework for nations (regional governments) to be established, and continued, to represent the interests of their communities
Part 2 – Regional Government Purposes and Principles
- A regional government or nation shall represent the interests of communities and populations within the defined borders of the regional government.
Part 3 – Incorporation of a regional government
- A regional government shall be incorporated into the United First Nations upon the UFN council’s approval of the submission of signed and dated bylaws.
Part 4 – Dissolution of a regional government
- A regional government shall be dissolved by unanimous vote of the UFN Council.
Part 5 – Regional government leadership
- Leadership of a regional government is by election, in accordance with the regional bylaws.
- In the event that elections cannot be held in a region, the UFN Council may appoint a temporary representative for a term not to exceed one year.
- Leadership of a regional government may be removed by unanimous vote by the UFN Council.
Part 6 – Regional government and Congress
- The chairperson, or representative of a regional government shall sit on the UFN’s Congress of Nations, as a Class ‘B’ member of the UFN under its bylaws.
- The chairperson shall have all rights granted under the UFN’s Congress of Nations charter.
